FAQ

Got a question about your tattoo? We’ve probably answered it here. If not, please call us on 07 3844 0711.

  • After 25 years in West End, we recently made the decision to move to Fortitude Valley. You can now find us at 83 Brunswick Street, Fortitude Valley, 4006.

Our studio is conveniently situated within a short walking distance from Fortitude Valley train station. Additionally, there is a bus stop right in front of our establishment, which offers various service routes, including: 334, 346, 353, 360, 361, 364, 370, 375 & 379.

  • We do not offer on-site parking.

There is plenty of street parking in the vicinity of our studio, specifically on Water St, Warry St, and Amelia St. You should usually have no difficulty finding a suitable parking spot in these areas.

We kindly request that you allow additional time to locate a carpark and navigate your way to your scheduled appointment.

  • Our opening hours are 11am to 6pm, Tuesday through to Saturday.

  • You must be at least 18 years of age.

You must present a valid form of identification, such as a driver’s license or passport to proceed with your appointment.

  • We have a studio minimum of $150, and the price increases depending on the commitment required. We always give the time and expertise needed to make the highest-quality designs.

The final cost of the tattoo is also determined by the size, location, and level of detail.

For tattoos that require 5 or more hours, or pieces requiring multiple sessions, we book and price at either an hourly rate or as a half / full day session.

Half-day is $750 and full day is $1400. This is adjusted at your artist's discretion based on the design detail and times.

  • We operate primarily by appointment, but we are always happy to accommodate walk-in clients as well. Alternatively, you may choose to contact us first to enquire about our availability for the day.

If you are interested in larger projects, we require a consultation prior to the tattoo appointment. This allows us to thoroughly establish the design specifications, placement, potential limitations, and any other relevant requirements.

You may book an obligation free consult here.

  • We respectfully request that you reach out to our studio by phone, email, or visit to discuss your desired tattoo work and to book an appointment with any of our artists. Our staff will guide you through the process and schedule a consultation or tattoo appointment with the appropriate tattooer once your needs have been discussed.

If you prefer, you may complete our Enquiry Form. The form allows you to upload 5 reference images, and our booking manager will promptly reach out to you to schedule a consultation and / or tattoo appointment.

  • We acknowledge that certain tattoo designs may hold sentimental value to our clients. While we cannot guarantee an exact replication, we will assess each case individually and consider the reference material provided as a starting point for our tattooers to create a custom design that meets your needs.

  • We aim to respond to all emails / enquiries within 24 business hours. We kindly ask for your patience. If you require immediate communication, please do not hesitate to contact us by phone or visit the studio in person.

  • While we find Facebook and Instagram to be great tools for showcasing our work and engaging with our clients during the tattooing process, we cannot guarantee that messages sent through these platforms will receive prompt responses.

  • To secure any tattoo appointment beyond the initial consultation, we require a booking fee to be paid. The amount of the booking fee will be based on the size and complexity of the design.

For small tattoos, the fee is $100. For half day appointments it is $250, and for full day sessions it ranges from $250 - $500. The booking fee is deducted from the total cost of the tattoo and is held until the final session.

We put a lot of effort into preparing for each appointment, and collecting a booking fee allows us to begin the necessary prep work while also providing assurance that the client is committed to the appointment.

  • All booking fees are non-refundable.

  • To ensure that we can accommodate changes to your design, we kindly ask that you contact the studio as early as possible. It may not be possible to create a new design at short notice. Also, it is possible the tattooer may not specialise in the style you have now chosen, or that the new idea may not be feasible.

  • We will offer you comprehensive aftercare instructions on the day of your appointment. Proper aftercare is crucial for the healing and longevity of your tattoo.

  • Yes.

To provide you with the best recommendations on achieving your desired outcome, we will need to look at your existing tattoo. The approach to covering up a tattoo will vary depending on individual circumstances. Some tattoos can be easily covered while others may require lightening before the new design can be applied.

Our in-house laser specialist, Andre, can assist with any lightening requirements.

  • To determine the possibility of reworking or completing your tattoo, we require a close examination. We ask you to schedule a consultation with one of our experienced artists to determine the feasibility of the project.

  • Children are welcome in the studio, but for safety reasons, they are not permitted in the work areas.

  • We do not tattoo the neck, hands, or face unless you have extensive tattoo coverage already. Our priority is to produce high-quality tattoos. Due to the nature of certain areas of the body, it may not be possible to achieve this goal. We do make exceptions on a case-by-case basis. If you are interested in getting a tattoo in a particular area, please feel free to request it, however, we ask that you understand if we decline to take on the job.

  • We can certainly accommodate your request for vegan inks. In fact a large amount of the ink used at the studio contains no animal products. However, we must inform you that in some cases, the inks required for specific work may not be guaranteed vegan. Please advise your tattoo artist if you would like to use vegan ink at the time of your consultation to determine the best course of action to achieve your desired result.

  • Getting a tattoo can be painful, but the level of pain will vary depending on the location on your body.

  • We offer the convenience of email consultation to help with the tattoo process. Complete our Enquiry Form and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

  • The waiting period for a tattoo can range anywhere from one hour to six months depending on a few factors, such as the tattoo artist, time of year, size of the tattoo and the preparation required. We will do our best to accommodate your schedule.

  • At Westside Tattoo Brisbane, we offer a broad spectrum of tattoo, art, and design styles. However, if we believe that a particular concept or design will not translate well into a tattoo, we will provide our professional opinion and guidance.

  • Our artists are versatile and may take on projects outside their areas of expertise. We request filling out our Enquiry Form with comprehensive details to enable your preferred artist to make an informed decision based on your reference, or alternatively, come into the studio and have a chat.

  • We strictly only replicate classic flash pieces that were created and sold for that specific purpose, such as Sailor Jerry, Amund Dietzel, Bert Grimm, etc. For all other tattoo designs, our artists will use your reference piece as a starting point to create a unique design tailored to your preference. This means that your tattoo will incorporate some element from your reference, but it will not be an exact replica. Our artists take pride in creating original tattoos that are customised to each client’s vision.

  • Payment for each session is required on the day of the appointment and can be made by cash or EFTPOS. In case of any uncertainty regarding the cost of your session, our staff will gladly assist you in estimating the amount. Your final session cost will be reduced by the amount of the booking fee you paid.

  • We are unable to provide final artwork before your tattoo session. Our tattooers will work with you during consultation to ensure that they have all the necessary information to create your tattoo design on the day of your appointment.
